AUDIT

Special Audit

A Special Audit is an audit conducted outside the regular certification cycle to address specific circumstances or requirements. It may be carried out to verify the implementation of corrective actions, investigate significant nonconformities, assess major changes within the organisation, evaluate complaints, or confirm continued compliance with certification requirements. Special audits provide additional assurance when specific issues or concerns require independent verification.

The Scope

The scope of a Special Audit is determined by the purpose of the audit and is typically limited to the specific processes, activities, locations, departments, or management system elements being assessed. Depending on the circumstances, the audit may focus on corrective actions, organisational changes, regulatory compliance, customer complaints, or other areas identified as requiring further evaluation.

The Frequency

Special Audits are conducted on an as-needed basis and are not part of the regular certification cycle. They may be initiated by the certification body, regulatory authorities, accreditation requirements, or at the request of the certified organisation when specific circumstances warrant additional assessment.
